Self
When a rat is completely the same colour all over (belly sometimes same colour but slightly lighter shade) this is called "Self".

Irish
Irish rats are very similar to self rats but they have a white Triangle mark on their chest, white feet and a white tipped tail.

Berkshire
Berkshire rats are similar to the self but Berkshire rats have a white mark that should completely cover there belly.

Undermarked Berkshire
Undermarked Berkshire rats are Berkshire rats that are undermarked, meaning minimal white on the belly. Also considered a "Bad" Berkshire.

Hooded
Hooded rats have a coloured hood covering their head, neck, chest, shoulders continuing down their spine to their tail. It should be unbroken and a relatively wide stripe.

Variegated
Variegated rats are the same as a Berkshire but they have white splashes going from their tummy up in to the colour on their sides between their front and hind legs.

Variegated Berkshire
Variegated Berkshire rats are the same as a Berkshire but they have white splashes going from their tummy up in to the colour on their sides between their front and hind legs. They must have a correct Berkshire Belly.

Variegated Hooded
Variegated Hooded rats are the same as a Hooded but they have white flecks all through their Hoods. They should still have the correct Hood.

Mismarked
Mismarked is any unusual patterning in markings like Berkshire, Hooded, Capped, Slit Capped, Notched or Bareback. Say like very small spots down a Capped rats back.

Bareback
Bareback markings are just that, they have a coloured head, neck, chest and shoulders just like the hoodeds but theirs stops at the shoulders leaving their backs completely white.

Capped
Capped rats have a completely white body but they have a Capped head that does not extend to the throat or past their ears.

Split Capped
Split Capped rats are the same as a capped rat but the cap has a white split through it.

Notched
Notched rats have a completely white body but they have a Capped head that does not extend to the throat or past their ears. Notched rats have a white stripe running down their chin like a reverse split capped.

Headspot
Headspot rats have a white spot on their head usually in the middle of their forehead which can vary in size.

Wedge Blaze
Wedge Blaze rats have a White wedge mark on their face called a blaze. It goes from their muzzle and stops before their ears. Some are smaller then others and not as defined.

Lightning Blaze
Lightning Blaze rats are very similar the the wedge blazed rat but their blaze is more of stripe that resembles a lightning bolt, some are small and thin and some are quiet large and thick

DownUnder (DU)
Downunder rats have a large marking of their coat colour on their white bellies. The belly stripe should be a connected and continuous stripe of colour extending from the coloured area beneath the throat all the way to and filling the area between the back legs.

DownUnder Hooded
Solid Hood and solid belly stripe. No side spotting. TheHood should be complete, unbroken and devoid of brindling. The belly stripe should be a connected and continuous stripe of colour extending from the coloured area beneath the throat all the way to and filling the area between the back legs.

DownUnder Hooded Spotted
Solid Hood and solid belly stripe. No side spotting. TheHood should be complete, unbroken and devoid of brindling. The belly stripe should be a connected and continuous stripe of colour extending from the coloured area beneath the throat all the way to and filling the area between the back legs. The sides are to be white with as many colour spots as possible, and be evenly distributed.

DownUnder Spotted
Broken hood stripe and broken belly stripe with side spots.
The back and belly stripes are to be as broken as possible, giving the effect of spotting all over the back and belly. Side spots are desirable. The hood colour should include all of the head, throat and shoulders. The line of demarcation beneath the hood should cross the chest where the throat joins and it and should be smooth without raggedness or brindling except where intercepting a spot. |
DownUnder Variegated
Broken hood stripe with side spots and solid belly stripe. The hood should cover the head throat and shoulders with the hood stripe as broken up as possible, giving the effect of spotting all over the back with side spotting. The belly stripe should be a connected and continuous stripe of colour, extending from the coloured area beneath the throat all the way to, and filling the area between the back legs.

DU Variegated Berkshire
DownUnder Variegated Berkshire rats are the same as a Variegated Berkshire. The belly stripe should be a connected and continuous stripe of colour extending from the coloured area beneath the throat all the way to and filling the area between the back legs. They must have a correct Berkshire Belly edging.

Downunder rats have a large marking of their coat colour on their white bellies. The belly stripe should be a connected and continuous stripe of colour extending from the coloured area beneath the throat all the way to and filling the area between the back legs. They must have a correct Berkshire Belly edging.

Dalmatian
Dalmatian rats are white all over with random coloured splashes or splotches over their body. The more spots, the more desirable.
